Plot Summary:An off-screen narrator talks about the concept of marriage, those associated items that have withstood the test of time, and those that are ever changing based on issues and events of the time, such events within memory as the great wars and the Great Depression. The discussion then moves to the marriage of today, where young people get married for much different reasons than their parents, with they, especially the women, having greater choice, such as not marrying just for security and or not destined solely for a life of domesticity as housewife and eventually mother. Two young married couples are then shown, Phyllis and Chad, and Kathy and Frank, each of the four who entered marriage with their chosen one for reasons different than the other three, but whose marriage, while not perfect, is close to their expectation. Each of the four, in voice over, talk about their respective marriage while scenes from it are shown.
