I’m sorry but this gonna have to be in english somehow. maybe when i feel like I’ll try to mumble some proper chinese out.

It’s utterly beautiful and most ideal love. Especially at this age, you crave to care, attention, understanding and just love. You have so many quesrions about the world, about yourself, about life, about everything. And things gets complicated when these two are merged together. That’s how I see this piece of art. It’s ofc about love, on and off, about how they gradually fall into this mature and almost utopian love and affection for each other. First time they made out in hight school they learned they should respect each other. Second time was to communicate. Nothing is obvious unless you spit it out. Third time (well I’m not really sure about the counting now) was this blurry boundary between friendship and amour that they seem want to hold on to both and their different expectation for it. Last time, if you could still call it, is how they went totally on their separate way and feel secure enough to challenge the love they have for each other. It’s just this gradual change that makes this love “normal”. This is how we picture our ideal relationship. But I’m gonna say this is abnormal cuz most of the time, we fail, even just at the first stage. idk if it’s because nobody is patient with love anymore or whatsoever. It’s just so hard to find someone that you might click with to get started with everything.

But it’s more about how they fall into the grand “trap” of life. Not trap maybe, we should still be positive about it but I just love the period when they are in college, so naive and bold about everything. This drama makes me feel like me myself growing also with the characters, and this makes it so winded to watch. But I love how that feels, to see Marianne become the celebrity in college but still haunted by this insecureness and self-hatred and developed a let’s say not normal sexual life. And then realizing that there’s still people out there that love her. Seeing how Connell escaped from the unrealness that he has felt even when he was popular and feeling lonely and fake in a new environment, suspecting himself. They are both encountered with the grave questions of life, but they are always there to support each other and save each other. What more can you ask for in a lifetime

Despite thr ons and offs, you can see how their bond just grew stronger and stronger. I can some pieces of my life, not the love part, ofc, the lost, feeling confused and anxiety, all that. Lest all the abnormal soulmate you prolly won’t find, it is a story about normal people.
