The heroine saves this movie. She has just the right mixture of innocence and vulgarity that is required of her character.
I wouldn't pretend that the "cow-from-the-sky" ending makes any sense. Perhaps its aims at some kind of metaphor for the comical anarchy that dominates the land? I guess I'll leave that to a more knowledgeable viewer.
The other main charm of the movie, besides the heroine, is the exotica of the setting. It's so easy to romanticize its vast land and fierce people when it comes to Central Asia, and I am very relieved when the director resists the temptation. Overall a great ride.
