Pat Cahill :

The idea for a movie where the protagonist is a villain who has a change of heart is very original and creative.
The movie's script is very entertaining and well-written, as it has some pretty funny quotes.
Many of the characters are likable and fun, especially for Gru and three orphan kids.
In fact, Gru is a sympathetic character and his motivations for being a villain are understandable.
The Minions can make you laugh in most of the scenes, and their relationship with Gru and his adopted daughters is very heartwarming.
One of the orphan girls, Agnes is absolutely adorable.
The humor is hilarious and creative. Even some of the bathroom humor is funny, with Gru's plan being one example.
The animation (even when it is produced in CGI) is pretty decent, especially considering it was the first movie by Illumination Entertainment.
Vector is a really hilarious villain who has many memorable lines (such as "Oh yeah!").
Many of the film's actions scenes are quite amazing to watch, especially the scene when Gru steals the shrinking ray.
The vocal performances are very fantastic and quite amazing as everyone brings a great job of their character.
The relationship with Gru and the orphan girls is one of the cutest and emotional moments of the film.
Many of the other emotional scenes are pretty wholesome.
A lot of Pharrell Williams songs are very astounding, some of them are "Fun, Fun, Fun", "Prettiest Girls" and "My Life" by Robin Thicke.
Heitor Periera's score in the movie is very vivid and awesomely moving.

This is not a movie nor a film. This is a work of art. A masterpiece. The way our protagonist, Gru, goes from a cold-hearted loner to a loving, caring father who would put his life on the line for his girls truly captures what life is all about; family. Through flashbacks, we can also see that Gru's father was absent and that he was neglected by his mother and this makes him a sympathetic character that you root for, even before his turn to good. Steve Carell delivers his most gripping, encapsulating performance yet all that tugs on your heart strings and will truly make you rethink your entire attitude to life. In my opinion, Gru is the greatest character, not only in film but in fiction itself. As much as I'd love to talk about Gru, its not Despicable Me if there are no Minions, the lovable little yellow fiends who really carry the film's humorous aspects. Who can forget the scene where the Minions photocopy images of their rear ends? Peak comedy. Nobody knows just exactly how Minions became so popular but I have an idea. Apart from their hilarious actions, I believe that it is because of the Minions' childlike behaviour that they are so lovable. I was six years old when this movie changed my life and I really saw a piece of myself in the Minions and I would like to believe that parents across the globe see their child in the Minions. Moving on, the antagonist of this film is Victor Perkins but you would know him better as Vector. Vector is a menacing foe who's actions have you on the edge of your seat. However, he's also a layered, complex character (much like Gru himself). Deep down, Vector is just a boy trying to impress his father and gain his approval. My love for Despicable Me, as well as its sequels, spin-offs and shorts, is immeasurable and I cannot wait for 'Minions: Rise of Gru' to come out (hopefully) later this year. I've gotta admit that this movie is the best and one of my favorites. There is something about gru that amuses me. His shape and his voice. Its all so funny. And the Minions are such cute little freaks. I love them. Although they don't speak in English, I can still understand. The story is just so amazing Although its far from reality. I like the fact that he's trying to steal the Moon. And that he's trying to become a super villain.

And its very nice that he gets to adapt those girls who help him get into Vectors house which is so futuristic. And that Shrink gun heist, its so epic. There is so much un realistic stuff going on but still its so captivating.

Finally, you should watch it. Its really enjoyable and satisfying. It deserves more than 5 stars.

This is in fact my favorite animated franchise due to it's action, storytelling, and hilarious jokes! Universal Pictures is perhaps the best film studio in the century because my favorite movie heroes are King Kong and Gru alongside the minions. Even Indiana Jones is also cool, despite him being from Paramount. I enjoy the sequels as well the prequel Minions (2015). I truly love Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man because he and hulk (from the MCU) are my all-time Marvel protagonists.

Gru is a well-developed character from supervillain to super-dad because his heart quickly opens up to the three girls who become something he thought he never actually wanted: a family. This is clearly like King Kong and Ann Darrow's relationship since Kong lost all his pride and wisdom as he became attracted to Ann's beauty, and she gave him happiness within his heart.
