- Companies that make (and monopolise) the seeds and the companies that make the pesticides are the same companies. They are also the companies that make medicines (if farmers get sick from excessive pesticides), they get more profit. So it's always, always a win-win-win. (e.g. Monsanto)

- All things that people really need are getting more and more expensive - houses, tuition fees, life insurances. However, clothes are so cheap, even if I am poor, I have this piece of clothing, that looks nice, for just 8.5 dollars.

- There are two kinds of products - the kind that you use (like washing machines), and the kind that you use up (like chewing gum). Consumptionism is all about getting people to treat the things that you use as the things that you use up.

- US has become a peculiar country that transportation, education, and everything else can be criticised, except for the economy. “Capitalism could not be questioned.”

- Capital must expand to survive, but human and nature have limits. Materialism is the part of the drive of the US economy.
