Plot Summary:The miller's son, following his vocation, escaped to the sea, but after several years he returned to his family and his childhood affair, Hanka, a young lady from the court. This, however, yielded to her parents, accidentally overhearing that her resistance would cause their financial ruin, intends to marry an old, wealthy geek. The desperate young man escapes again and falls into the trap of a gang of smugglers. The intervention of a loved one saves his life.
