The way of life worked? Well, maybe in the past, definitely not now. The world is changing too fast. I didn't see Kate's choice surviving any possible accidents. Not enough money or worth of value to support herself and the growing kids. Growing old in the same house, well, maybe kind of romantic, but too risky. Any possible changes could damage it.

I think there is something wrong with the choice. The world is changing too much everyday. Kate's planning of future would be overturned by the ever-coming changes.

I don't see why Kate and Jack couldn't be together. But there are just other ways to work it out. Does she have to be a probono? Do they have to choose an unhealthy lifestyle like their friends?(Obesity and everything) Do they have to live in such poverty knowing that they had better choices to make life easier?
