在十九世纪的英国，Oscar Wilde是一个家喻户晓的名字，剧院里上映着他的剧目，聚会上畅谈着他的小说，人人津津乐道他的标新立异与妙语连珠，正如Wilde所说，"The world is at my command." 尽管整个世界尽在Wilde的掌控之中，但是Wilde难以掌控自己，难以掌控自己对Bosie的爱慕。
由Jude Law饰演的Bosie金发碧眼，俊美得令人一眼万年，难怪Wilde心甘情愿跪拜在Bosie的神龛前，爱得倾其所有，爱得义无反顾。Bosie的眼睛是单纯里带着邪魅，张狂里带着脆弱，笑起来仿佛清澈的湖水，荡漾着无尽爱意，令人久久沉沦。

That it should not be so. The world does not understand. The world mocks at it. And sometimes puts one in the pillory for it."

How could the society understand you, Wilde? How could the society understand your love for beauty? Wilde自愿入狱令人想到甘愿赴死的苏格拉底，从公元前发展到二十一世纪的人类社会究竟有过多少智者为心目中的神明牺牲了生命。对于Wilde来说，美即是终其一生唯一参拜的神明，是哪怕牺牲性命亦要捍卫的神明。
